Early life

Mohammad Khaleel Jamjoum (Arabic:محمّد خليل جمجوم) was born in Hebron in 1902. He studied later on at the American University of Beirut and participated in the 1929 Palestine riots which occurred when Palestine was still under the British mandate.

Jamjoum was known to oppose Zionism and the British Mandate. He participated in protests around the city of Hebron. In the aftermath of the 1929 Palestine Riots, 124 Arabs were charged with murder and 55 were convicted. Of the 55 convicted of murder, 26 were sentenced to death.

The Events in Hebron

Many cities such as Jaffa, Haifa,and Jerusalem fought in the riots and the peak of the clashes were in Hebron. Although 25 Palestinian Arabs were convicted of murder, the sentences were later changed to life imprisonment with the exception of three men: Fouad Hassan Hijazi, Mohammad Khalil Jamjoum and Ataa Ahmad Alzer.

Day of Execution

On June 17, 1930 Mohammad Khalil was hanged in the Prison of Acre. He was the second of the three men to be hanged on that day.
