Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) is a technical institute located in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It offers undergraduate degrees in engineering and master's degrees in computer engineering, management and computer applications. The institution was opened in 1998 and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education and affiliated to the University of Jammu. MIET is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), while the departments of Electronics and Communications and Computer Science and Engineering were accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).. MIET was awarded the "Best Institution award" in the year 2014 among all north indian engineering colleges of north India by NITTR.

Admission procedure
Admission to B.E programmes is made on the basis of the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) of the J&K Government. Admissions to the MCA programme are made by the University of Jammu, based on an independent entrance test. Admissions to the MBA programme are made on the basis of CAT/MAT/CMAT scores and as per procedure laid down by the University of Jammu.

Research and Development
MIET is a pioneer in research and development in J&K. Till date 12 patents have been filed at the Indian Patents Office in CS/IT and over 350 research papers have been published by the faculty in the last 5 years. Several papers have been published/indexed by prestigious international publishers such as IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, ACM, Taylor & Francis, InderScience and IGI-Global.
Two IT products have been incubated at MIET which are in the process of being commercialized. MIET offers consultancy services in several areas and has a dedicated Center for Software Development
Alumni
MIET Alumni occupy high positions in reputed national and international corporate houses and in Government services. Over 300 alumni of MIET are currently working overseas in USA, UK, Singapore, Middle-East, Australia and Europe. MIET Alumni are currently enrolled or graduated from top universities such as Georgia Tech, Virginia, USA, University of Texas, Dallas, USA, University of Edinburgh, UK, IIM-Indore, India, King's College, UK and IIT-Delhi, India. To recognize Alumni for their professional achievements, MIET has instituted the Distinguished Alumni Award which has been presented to six alumni so far.
