Their solutions are used by mobile carriers, handset OEMs, mobile publishers, and by device software developers and advertisers. They were the first company to commercially launch graphically interactive home screen experiences in North America. Mobile Posse’s platform is used by major North American carriers, including Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, MetroPCS, Cricket and others. Currently their platform reaches nearly 20 million active consumers on 400 different handsets and 7 popular operating systems. In August 2013, Mobile Posse eclipsed the 15 million users mark, increasing its base by 50 percent in the last five months, approaching the level of similar Foursquare, and added an additional $5mm in funding. Unlike other mobile advertising platforms, Mobile Posse's apps and advertising works primarily through the home screen and via opt-in apps.

Founded in 2005 in McLean, Virginia by Jon Jackson, the company also has offices in New York City.

MobiAlerts is a service launched in November 2011 that is preloaded onto carrier handsets to allow the carrier to send alerts to consumers when they are nearing their usage limits for voice, data, and text. Different from typical SMS messages, the MobiAlerts record the user opening and acknowledging the information, which is then sent back to the carrier for confirmation.

MobiTiles is their current product, which is preinstalled on carrier devices and serves home screen ads on mobile devices. Mobile Posse developed a turnkey mobile delivery platform which activates the phone's idle screen to deliver advertising and CRM messages—while ensuring a superior experience for end users. Advertisers use the platform to deliver full-color, interactive and timely mobile advertising messages to consumers. Carriers can rely on the platform to keep their customers informed about wireless products and services, and to enhance the overall customer experience. This service was recently the topic of an independent study that reviewed how home screen messaging reaches customers and compares to other device uses.

Study

In a July 2013 uncommissioned study done by Arbitron Mobile, consumers who installed Mobile Posse's Home Messaging Tool were followed and their behavior analyzed.

Arbitron's research shows:

  • Mobile Posse reached more users both weekly and monthly than Facebook, Gmail and Yahoo Mail
  • Mobile Posse increased user sessions, on average 88 minutes/month
  • Facebook drove 74 minutes/month, Gmail drove 44 minutes/month
  • Only Facebook drove more average minutes of use per month and per device (215 minutes vs. 152 minutes)
  • Interestingly, the main difference between the Home Messaging Tool and other mobile platforms and apps such as Facebook, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail to which Mobile Posse was compared, is based on the tool's ability to push messaging from advertisers directly to the home screen of a mobile device without requiring the user to swipe or tap to view the ad. Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Facebook do not offer this option, so the numbers are not a true comparison of competitors but rather of engagement rates and how users interact with different screens and apps in their mobile device.
