Mitchell Humphries (born 25 June 1993) is an Australian ice hockey player currently playing for the Melbourne Ice in the Australian Ice Hockey League and is a member of the Australian national team.

Playing career

Humphries first played in 2008 when he signed up with the Banff Hockey Academy. Humphries started the 2010-11 season playing in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League before the Academy placed him in the Banff Academy Bears team to play the remainder of the season in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). He spent another season playing for the Bears before leaving the Academy, finishing with 74 points in 63 HJHL games. After leaving the Academy he returned to Australia where he signed with the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League for the 2012 season. Humphries played in 11 games for the Ice and did not play in the playoffs where the team went on to win the 2012 Goodall Cup. He did however play in the team that won the 2012 Trans-Tasman Champions League. Following the end of the AIHL season Humphries returned to North America and signed with the Granite City Lumberjacks of the North American 3 Hockey League. He played in one season for the Lumberjacks, scoring 22 points in 42 games, before returning to Australia for his second season with the Ice. During his second season Humphries saw increased game time, playing in 25 games where he scored 27 points. Following the end of the 2013 AIHL season Humphries joined the Melbourne Glaciers of the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League for the 2013-14 season which ran during the AIHL's off-season.

Humphries was first selected to represent Australia in 2011 where he joined the national under-20 team to compete in the 2012 IIHF World U20 Championship Division II Group B tournament being held in Tallinn, Estonia. Australia finished in fifth place while Humphries recorded seven points in five games. The following year he was again selected for the under-20 team to compete at the 2013 IIHF World U20 Championship Division II Group B tournament. Humphries was named one of the teams alternate captains and won the award for Australia's best player of the tournament. In 2014 Humphries was selected for the national senior team to compete in the 2014 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Australia finished in fourth place while Humphries recorded two points in five games which included a single goal.
