Mitch Garbutt (born 18 April 1989) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League. He plays at prop. He previously played for the Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League.

Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Garbutt played his junior football for the Western Suburbs Rosellas in the Newcastle Rugby League, before being signed by the Newcastle Knights.

Early career

In 2008 and 2009, Garbutt played for the Newcastle Knights' NYC team. In 2010, he returned to his junior club, the Western Suburbs Rosellas. At the end of 2011, after impressing in the 2011 Newcastle Rugby League Grand Final between the Rosellas and Maitland Pickers, he signed a 1-year contract with the Melbourne Storm starting in 2012 with an option for 2013.

2013

In Round 14 of the 2013 NRL season, Garbutt made his NRL debut for the Storm against his former club, the Newcastle Knights.

2014

On 16 July 2014, Garbutt signed a 2-year contract with the Brisbane Broncos starting in 2015.

2015

On 24 June 2015, Garbutt signed a 2 12-year contract with Super League club Leeds Rhinos effective immediately, after being granted a release from his Broncos contract.

2016

His performances for Leeds have been mixed since his debut less than a year ago, but he became famous for his punch on Australian test prop James Tamou in the 2016 World Club Challenge against North Queensland Cowboys for which he later apologised.
