Route Description
Mississippi Highway 37 was designed for the purpose of providing motorists from Taylorsville with a direct route to Raleigh. This route saves the motorist about 10 to 15 minutes off of the normal driving time that it would take for motorists to use Mississippi Highway 28 west to Mize, and then use Mississippi Highway 35 north to Raleigh.
The route is rather curvy; the average speed limit is only about 45mph even though it is posted at 55mph. Some local motorists will take the longer route simply to avoid the curves. The Smith County portion of the highway has fallen into a state of disrepair, it is littered with potholes throughout the route from Raleigh to Taylorsville.
