Mindy Utay

Mindy Utay is a licensed psychotherapist and psychoanalyst specializing in individual and couples therapy. She entered the field of psychotherapy after working as a corporate attorney and practices on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Psychotherapy

Utay began her career at the international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where she specialized in antitrust law. After becoming a licensed social worker and psychoanalyst, she opened her private psychotherapy practice. Over the years, she has focused her clinical work on conflict resolutions therapy integrating her background in law, social work, mediation and psychoanalysis to help patients identify and resolve life conflicts. She has developed workshops and has lectured in areas of parenting and couples therapy and created The Emotional Prenuptial Agreement, a nonbinding contract between couples that lays the groundwork for the emotional terms of their marriage. She is working on a book about aging for women of the baby boom generation. She is an Official Blogger for The Huffington Post writing a column entitled "Calming Life's Conflicts".

She frequently serves as an expert on relationships and parenting for national media. She has been featured in Forbes and Woman’s Day and has blogged for the Huffington Post.

Education

Utay holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a law degree from George Washington University and a clinical social work degree from New York University. She is certified as a psychoanalyst by the National Institute for the Psychotherapies.
