Minamiaiki (南相木村, Minamiaiki-mura) is a village located in Minamisaku District in south-central Nagano Prefecture, in the Chūbu region of Japan. As of 1 October 2016, the village had an estimated population of 1014 and a population density of 15.4 persons per km². Its total area was 66.05 square kilometres (25.50 sq mi).

Geography

Minamiaiki is located in mountainous eastern Nagano Prefecture, bordered by Gunma Prefecture to the east. More than 90%of the village area is covered by mountains and forest. Minamiaiki Dam is located within this village.

  • History

    The area of present-day MInamiaiki was part of ancient Shinano Province, and was mentioned in Muromachi period records. The modern village of Minamiaiki was created with the establishment of the municipalities system on April 1, 1889.
