Milan Osterc ([ˈmíːlan ˈòːstərt͡s]; born 4 July 1975 in Murska Sobota) is a retired Slovenian football striker. He is also known by the nickname Jagoda ([ˈjàːgɔda], English: The strawberry).

Club career

He started his career at Veržej. In the 2009–10 season, he was the top scorer of the Slovenian first division, 1. SNL.

UEFA Cup run with Hapoel

Osterc is best known in Israel for his seven goals in Hapoel Tel Aviv's run to the quarter finals of the 2002 UEFA Cup. Crucial strikes against powerhouses Chelsea, Parma, and Lokomotiv Moscow helped Hapoel defy the odds and achieve one of their greatest feats in European football.

International career

Osterc played 44 matches for the Slovenia and was a participant at the Euro 2000 and 2002 FIFA World Cup. On 10 November 2001 he scored a spectacular goal against Romania, helping to secure his country's first World Cup appearance as an independent nation.
