Mike Morgan (born January 26, 1955) is an American lawyer and Democratic politician from the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Morgan served as the President pro tempore of the Oklahoma Senate during the 51st Oklahoma Legislature.

Early life

Morgan was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 26, 1955. He graduated from Will Rogers High School and moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where he attended Oklahoma State University–Stillwater. He graduated from OSU in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He then attended the University of Tulsa and earned a Juris Doctor in 1979.

Morgan set up his private practice back in Stillwater. He conducts a general civil practice specializing in commercial transactions and real property. In 1984, Morgan was hired to serve as a Municipal Judge for the City of Stillwater. During his tenure in office, he was also a professor of business law at OSU.

Political career

Morgan was first elected to the Oklahoma Senate in 1996 and in March 2005 Morgan was selected by his party to serve as the President pro tempore. Due to term limits placed on him by the Oklahoma Constitution, Morgan was unable to seek reelection in 2008.

On March 5, 2012, Morgan was convicted of program bribery, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison. Morgan has filed a motion for a new trial.
