Mike Conyers (born 31 December 1951) is a Scottish businessman and entrepreneur from Glasgow.

Conyers is the founder and CEO of ResDiary, an online restaurant booking system that started in Glasgow, Scotland in September 2006.

Early life and education

From 1960 to 1968 he attended Hutchesons' Grammar School. He graduated in 1973 from ICAS as a CA in Accountancy having previously studied at the University of Glasgow where he attained a B.Acc in Accountancy.

Career

Starting out in 1982 with Lautrec’s Wine Bar, he established a successful wine bar and brasserie.

During 1996 Conyers was responsible for the green field development of a fine dining restaurant known as 78 St.Vincent, where he managed the conversion of a “Chicago Style” banking hall in the Glasgow City Centre.

In August 1998 he went on to develop a chain of seven Scottish-based restaurants with an Italian theme, known as Leonardo & Company, initiating the project in Glasgow.

He envisaged a web application which could be used internally to help control and manage advance reservations, table management and customer management. He began working with a team of developers in 2006 in order to create the online services. ResDiary currently books over 8.7 million diners every month in 57 countries.

In 2016 Mike celebrated ResDiary's 10th anniversary with a pledge to double its overseas workforce by March 2018.

Awards and honours

  • His restaurant 78 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, was featured in the Good Food Guide.
