Michael Lee Bruner (born July 23, 1956) is an American former competition swimmer, two-time Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in two events. He competed at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Quebec, where he received a gold medal in the men's 200-meter butterfly (also world record), and a gold medal in the men's 4×200-meter freestyle relay. He received a gold medal at the 1978 World Aquatics Championships in Berlin.

Bruner set two world records during his career. One was the world record in the 200-meter butterfly (long course) with a time of 1:59.23, and one relay record.

Swimming World Magazine named Bruner its American swimmer of the year in 1980. He was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame as an "Honor Swimmer" in 1988.
