Micrelaps tchernovi, commonly known as Tchernov's chainling, is a species of venomous rear-fanged snake in the family Atractaspididae. It is endemic to the Middle East.

Etymology

The specific name or epithet, tchernovi, is in honor of Israeli paleontologist Eitan Tchernov (1935-2002), who collected the holotype.

Geographic range

It is found in Israel and Jordan.

Description

Dorsally, a pattern of 58 (on average) black saddle-like crossbands which fail to reach the ventrals. Crossbands usually narrower than the light interspaces. Ventrally, all black.
