Michael Beahan Shnayerson (born December 2, 1954) is an American journalist and contributing editor for Vanity Fair magazine. He is the author of several books and over 75 Vanity Fair stories since 1986. Two of his pieces for the magazine have been developed into films. In 1980, Shnayerson became the editor-in-chief of Avenue magazine, after stints at TIME magazine and The Santa Fe Reporter.

Biography

Shnayerson is the son of the journalist and editor Robert Shnayerson and a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Collegiate School. He was briefly married to Cynthia Stuart, daughter of the actress Mary Stuart before marrying the writer Cheryl Merser. Shnayerson lives in Sag Harbor, New York, with his daughter.

He is now married to Gayfryd Steinberg, widow of Saul Steinberg.

In 2004, Shnayerson contributed $2,000 to John Kerry.
