Paterniti won the 1998 National Magazine award for "Driving Mr. Albert: A Trip Across America with Einstein's Brain" in Harper Magazine. Michael Paterniti lives in Portland Maine and was born in Darien, Connecticut.
After his graduation from the University of Michigan, Michael Paterniti pursued a successful career for as an editor, magazine writer and the author of “Driving Mr. Albert,” his account of a cross-country car trip with both the pathologist who performed Albert Einstein’s autopsy and Einstein’s actual brain, which floated about in a formaldehyde-filled Tupperware vessel.
