Life and career

Mackmin was born in Croyden in 1941. He went to the University of Exeter and has lived in Leeds and Newcastle upon Tyne before settling in Norfolk in the 1960s.

He is a psychotherapist and poet. He has been the editor of The Rialto (Poetry Magazine) since it was established in 1985. He has two daughters Anna Mackmin The British Theatre Director and Scarlett Mackmin The Choreographer.

He has published four collections of poetry and his work has appeared in various poetry magazines.
