Mian Khurshid Anwar (Late) (Urdu: میاں خورشید انور‎) was a Punjabi politician, journalist and former deputy opposition leader of Punjab Assembly and commonly known as Founder of District Vehari. He was born in India, where his father was a sobaydar in Kapoor Thala, Jalandhar district India. He got his early education in Kapoor Thalla and migrated to Pakistan along with his family due to Indo-Pak partition. He came to Lahore for his higher secondary studies and became the student of Islamia College Lahore and participated in socio-political activities. He got into the company of reknowed intellectuals and historic companions such as Agha Shorish Kashmiri, Habib Jalib, Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, Tabish Dehlvi, Mian Mumtaz Daultana, Hanif Ramay, Ehsan-ul-Haq Piracha, Phool Muhammad Khan and Khawaja Muhammad Safdar. He started his political activities and actively participated in the presidential election of Fatima Jinnah held in 1965. He was a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab (MPA), representing Vehari in 1972 and in 1977. As a journalist, he served in 'daily Kohistan' and monthly 'Chitan'.

Historic resolution in Punjab Assembly

He presented a resolution for declaring Ahmadiyya as Non-Muslim in Punjab provincial assembly.

Founder of Vehari district

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Hanif Ramay announced the formation of District Vehari on his request at Hasan Raza Hall, Commissioner Office, Multan on 1st Jully, 1976. His devoted efforts and continuous struggle resulted in the formation of D.H.Q hospital Vehari and Boys and Girls Colleges for Vehari. Residential housing scheme 'People Colony Vehari' for low income people. He died on 26 March 1988 in Vehari.

Mian Khurshid Anwar Group

Mian Khurshid Anwar Group(Urdu: میاں خورشید انور گروپ‎) made by his sons Mian M. Saqib Khurshid and Mian Asif Khurshid is a part of electoral process in District Vehari. His sons are taking his mission of "Politics for serving people (Siyasaat baraey khidmat)".

Buildings renamed

Many places of Vehari are named after him. Khurshid Hall in Government Model High School, Vehari and Mian Khurshid Anwar Stadium besides Government Post-graduate College, Vehari are named after him to honor his struggle for Vehari District.
