Such solutions enable merchants to use diverse payment service providers on a single checkout page, which consequently allows to offer a variety of payment methods to the customer. The functionalities of the meta payment service provider include the collection of the customer’s credit card data and other information that the merchant recognizes important as well as the transfer of this data to the particular payment service provider, which depends on the payment method that has been chosen during the checkout process.

Security

Meta payment service provider can protect the connection between itself and a certain payment provider by using Advanced Encryption Standard and might be required to hold Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

Technology

Meta payment service provider builds the interface between the merchant and the payment service provider. Such interface is represented by the URL page and holds the information about the payment service providers and payment methods that are available to the payer. Such page could contain other information which depends on the preference of the meta payment service provider and its user. E-commerce and direct link describe the two different ways a transaction could appear to the payer. If the payment service provider is working in the e-commerce mode, then the payer is going to see the front end of the payment provider’s software. If the direct link mode is chosen, then the payer is not going to see the front end of the payment service provider’s software and only the meta payment service provider’s front end is going to appear to the payer.
