Mennonite Your Way is a hospitality service created in 1976 by Mennonites Leon and Nancy Stauffer.

How it works

The service publishes a printed directory of people who are willing to host others in their homes. The list of hosts is not online, it is only available as a booklet. There are currently 1,700 hosts.

To participate as guest, you must buy the directory for $45, or $30 if you plan to host. Guests in the U.S. and Canada are expected to donate to the host per night $10.00 per adult, $2.00 per child and if breakfast is offered, $2.00 per meal, unless otherwise noted in the hosts' listing.

Participant demographics

Guests are not required to be Christian. The hosts of the service are Christians, mostly Mennonites and Schwarzenau Brethren, often elderly couples. There are also some few Old Order Movement hosts. The hosts tend to be concentrated in areas where there are traditionally many Mennonites of Swiss and South-German ancestry. The largest concentration of hosts is in Pennsylvania. With the exception of Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland, there are only a few hosts outside on the United States.
