Melony Ghee Griffith (born June 5, 1963) is an American politician who represents district 25 in the Maryland House of Delegates. [1]

Background
On June 5, 1963, Delegate Griffith was born in Abilene, Texas to Frank F. and Mary E. Ghee and raised on Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. She attended Charles M. Russell High School, Great Falls, Montana and then Eastern Montana College where she earned her B.S. in psychology, criminology and rehabilitation in 1985. In 1987 she graduated from Howard University with a M.S.W.. She is currently a clinical social worker, public health specialist, and the Director of The Office of Prevention and Community Outreach for the Prince George's County Health Department. Griffith also host a local Public-access television show entitled "Modern Mentors" for the town of District Heights, Maryland. [2]
In the legislature
A member of House of Delegates since January 13, 1999, Delegate Griffith is a member of the Appropriations Committee and its Education & Economic Development subcommittee. (Previously serve on the transportation & the environment subcommittee and the public safety & administration subcommittee) She is a member of the Women's Caucus, Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland and vice-chairman of the Capital Budget Committee. During the 2007 session of the Maryland General Assembly, the Speaker appointed Griffith to chair the newly created blue ribbon committee on Retiree Health. Delegate Griffith currently serves as the chair of the Prince George's County House Delegation and the Chair of the Oversight Committee on Pensions.
