Melissa A. Crosby (born August 20, 1972, Killeen, Texas) is an American board-certified plastic surgeon, specializing in reconstructive surgery for patients with cancer and restorative cosmetic surgery, and a published author. She served as a physician at MD Anderson Cancer Center from 2011 to 2015.

Early life and education
Crosby was born in Killeen,Texas. Growing up in a military household, she spent most of her childhood traveling all over the United States with her family.
She obtained her degree in Zoology from Arizona State University and graduated summa cum laude in 1995. She earned her M.D. at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2000. She finished her integrated surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 2005. She followed it up with a microsurgery and reconstructive fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, completed in 2006.
Career
Crosby was invited to join the faculty at M.D. Anderson as an assistant professor at the Department of Plastic Surgery from July 2005 to August 2011. In the 2011 fall semester, she began her tenure as associate professor specializing in cancer reconstruction with an expertise in breast reconstruction. She held the position until April 2015.
Aside from her academic responsibilities, Crosby was designated administrative appointments most notable of which were: Doctors Offering Shadowing Experience (DOSE) Program Director (2009–2015), Department of Plastic Surgery; Course Director (2010–2015), 4th Year Medical Student Elective, SURG 4016: Reconstructive, Microsurgery of the Cancer Patient; Rotation Site Director (2010–2015), Plastic Surgery Resident Rotation Education; Associate Director (2013–2015), Women Faculty Programs; Co-Chair (2014–2015), Council on Gender Inclusiveness; and Co-Chair (2014–2015), Medical Practice Committee, Department of Plastic Surgery.
She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed research articles, multiple book chapters, and “Reshaping You: Breast Reconstruction for Breast Cancer Patients” published by M.D. Anderson. In turn, she reviews fellow physicians’ works at top plastic surgery journals including “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery,” “Annals of Plastic Surgery,” and “Breast Diseases: A Yearbook Quarterly.” She functions as associate editor for “Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery – Global Open.”
