Meg Medina is a Cuban-American writer of young adult fiction, known for her book Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass, which has been banned in some areas due to its title. She grew up in Queens, New York, where she met her husband Javier Menéndez. Medina's parents both immigrated from Cuba prior to her birth, which serves as a large inspiration for her writing. In March 2014 Medina was placed on CNN's "10 Visionary Women" list as a "Reading Revolutionary".
