Meenambakkam consist of AAI (IAD & NAD) Quarters and Meenambakkam locality very adjacent to the International Cargo and close by the Runway. It houses around 500 families.There are two schools in the colony—the Civil Aviation Middle school,Government Adi Dravida Welfare Higher Secondary School which has been producing excellent results for the past few years, More students from closer by areas like Pallavaram, St thomas mount prefer this school for the best coaching. The colony is also close to the Jain College in Meenambakkam. At walking distance from the colony, are two intra-city electric train stations (Meenambakkam and Palavanthangal), providing further access to the schools, colleges, residents of the colony and interior streets. Meenambakkam has cricket teams like OMCC which has won lot of Soft ball tournaments and Team captains name is MOHAN M.C(Former). In the year 2001 local body elections - All the 12 wards were won by DMK which has been a Unbreakable record.
