Mbarara Airport (IATA: MBQ, ICAO: HUMA) is a civilian airport that serves the town of Mbarara in Ankole sub-region, Uganda. It is one of the 46 airports in the country and one of the twelve upcountry airports administered by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda.
The airport was originally named Nyakisharara Airport and later renamed Mbarara Airport.
Location
The airport is approximately 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) north-west of the central business district of Mbarara, on the road to Bwizibwera and Ibanda. It is approximately 212 kilometres (132 mi) south-west of Entebbe International Airport, the country’s largest civilian and military airport.
