Mayte Carrasco (born 1974, Terrasa, Catalonia, Spain) is a freelance reporter and writer. She was a correspondent in France and Russia, and since 2008 covers armed conflicts, working with national and international media such as iTELE-Canal Plus (France), El País, DPA (Germany), DIE WELT (Germany), Publico, La Nacion (Argentina), Cadena SER, Yo Dona, Telecinco News, Foreign Policy Spanish Edition, OpenDemocracy (UK), etc. She produces, records and edits her own work (JRI).

In 2009 Mayte Carrasco complete a course in survival in conflict zones with a grant from Reuters, thanks to the Rory Peck Trust. She speaks Spanish, French, English, Catalan, and some Russian.

Carrasco also contributed as a media scholar. She writes for the Institute for the Study of Conflict and Humanitarian Action (IECAH), Foreign Policy Spanish Edition, the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies (IEEE), as well as opinion articles for several media. She also gives lectures and conferences about her experience in conflict zones. She is also a lecturer at several forums (a course entitled "Journalism and conflict. The challenges of the media in building peace" at the UNESCO Chair Philosophy for Peace (UJI), "Freelance reporter" at the Master of the El Mundo TV, Madrid), and recently directed a project in La Casa Encendida (Madrid) called "The Long Shadow of Walls", she organised debates and screenings of documentaries and curated an exhibition of photojournalism. She speaks Spanish, English, French, Catalan and basic Russian.

She started her professional career as correspondent in [Province of Granada|Granada] (Spain) for EFE in 1994. Between 2000 and 2002 she was a correspondent for the Spanish newspaper El Mundo in Almería. From 1994–2004 she worked as reporter for Telecinco´s newsreel in Barcelona and Almería, where she covered topics related to immigration from the north of Morocco. From 2004 to 2007, she moved to France, where she worked as bilingual journalist in the headquarters of Euronews in Lyon in 2004. In the following two years, she worked in Paris as the correspondent in Informativos Telecinco and Punto Radio where she reported on the presidential elections legislative of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Cannes Film Festival, U.S. President Barack Obama’s head of state visit on the 60th anniversary of Normandy landings, and directed the reports on ETA (Euskadi Ta Askatasuna). She worked as a war correspondent from 2008 when she worked for Informativos Telecinco in Moscow, Russia. She reported on the conflicts in Afghanistan, with the Spanish troops in Herat and carried interviews with Taliban leaders. In August 2008, she covered the Georgia War. From 2009-2012, she worked as a professor on Journalism and a freelance journalist covering conflicts in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya.

Fall of Mubarak. - NORTHERN CAUCASUS (Chechnya, Ingushetia) 2010. Black widows, violence still existing in the region. - SAHEL, AFRICA. Kidnapping and terrorism of Al Qaeda at the Sahel (northern Mali) 2010, consequences on the population. - AFGHANISTAN, 2008-2009. Kabul, Herat, with spanish troops. Suicide attacks. - WAR IN GEORGIA 2008. Zones taken by russians (Gori and north).

Before this, she was chief correspondent in Paris and Moscow, and worked for the multilingual channel Euronews in 2004.
