Maya Matievich (Serbian: Маја Матијевић; born January 5, 1990) is a classical pianist of Croatian-German origin. She started to play the piano at the age of five. She was born in the musical family, her father Boris is a trumpet player and a conductor, and her mother Sanya finished the piano and solo singing, but she is a teacher of English today.

Maya finished the Secondary Music School "Dr. Vojislav Vučković" in Belgrade in the class of Professor Branka Žiravac–Jeremić. She graduated at the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade in 2010. piano department, in the class of Professor Maja Rajković. Then, she studied with Professor Maria Bodo in Timisoara. Now, she is a student of Saint Petersburg State Conservatory in the class of Professor Alexander Sandler.

In December 2005. she was the only representative of Serbia and Montenegro at the Mediterranean festival of young pianists in Italy, where she had notable performances in several cities. She recorded a CD together with the other participants.

According to the words of the Professor Igor Lazko, at the age of 19 she became the first pianist in ex Yugoslavia who played Piano Sonata No. 1 (Rachmaninoff) in d minor, Op. 28.

While going to school, she attended master classes with famous professors like: Elisso Virsaladze, Jacques Rouvier, Andrei Diev, Piero Rattalino, Igor Lazko, Sijavush Gadjijev, Dmitri Bashkirov ...

She recorded three solo CDs (2005,2007,2010).

Prizes

The absolute 1st prize at the State competition in Belgrade. 1st prize at the International competition of young pianists "Vučković" in Belgrade; three times, the absolute 1st prize, Laureate at the International concorse "Alma Cornea Ionescu" in Romania (on this competition in 2005. she also had won a special prize for the best performance of Liszt’s 13th Hungarian Rhapsody). 2nd prize, Laureate on 13th International competition "Tjiarri music foundation" in Cyprus. 3rd prize, Laureate, of the "Maria Yudina" competition in St. Petersbourg, Russia. 1st prize on the International competition "Davorin Jenko" in Belgrade.
