Education

According to DAWN, Sheerani received his education at madrassas and never attended a university.
Political career

He has served as Former District Nazim JUI Zoob District.

He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan in Pakistani general election, 1988.
He was re-elected to the National Assembly in Pakistani general election, 1990.
He was re-elected to the National Assembly in Pakistani general election, 1997.
He was re-elected to the National Assembly in Pakistani general election, 2002 from NA-264.
He ran for the seat of National Assembly from NA-264 in Pakistani general election, 2008 but was unsuccessful.
He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan and was made chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology with the status of federal minister in 2010 for three years. He was again made chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology in 2013.
He has served as Federal Minister for Religious Affairs.
He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan on a ticket of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) from NA-264 (Zhob-cum-Killa-Sherani Saifullah) in Pakistani general election, 2013.
