Matti Kullervo Seppälä (born 5 September 1941 in Vaasa) is a Finnish geomorphologist specialized in cold climate aeolian processes. Seppälä is arguably the foremost expert on palsas. Seppälä obtained a Ph.D. at the University of Turku in 1971 and moved after to work at the University of Oulu until in 1978 he moved to the University of Helsinki. He served at that university as professor from 1978 to 2009 and is currently a retired professor of physical geography at that university.

Contents

Matti Seppälä has also been a research fellow at Uppsala University, Heidelberg University, Université de Montréal, University of Cambridge and Durham University.
