Matt Miller is an American football wide receiver for the Boise State Broncos football team. He stands between 6'3" and 6'4" tall and weighs 215 pounds. Matt Miller is well known for being named a second-team Freshman All-American from Yahoo! Sports, and was named one of the members of the first-team Freshman All-American honors given by the Football Writers Association of America. He was also the Gatorade player of the year for high school football in montana for capital high school. Miller is a native to Montana and joined Boise State’s football team in 2010. Miller has played many different positions over the span of his football career, which includes running back, safety, punt returner, linebacker, cornerback, wildcat quarterback, and receiver.

Background
Miller was born on May 1, 1991 and grew up in Montana's capital city, Helena. He is the son of Scott and Carolyn, and the brother of two sisters, Mary and Lauren, and a brother, Drew. Miller stated in an interview, “I was definitely Bruin born, Bruin bred," a part of the chant from Capital High School where he played football all four years. Athleticism was in Miller's genes; his father, Scott, and brother, Drew, won the Capital Championship when they attended the high school. Miller followed their footsteps by winning the championship three of the four years he attended Capital. Growing up, Miller was encouraged to be active; he enjoyed football, basketball,golf, and track. His family would attend the football games at Carroll, the local college, and Capital’s which contributed to his interest in football. Matt's great-uncle is the former Bishop of the Diocese of Helena and archbishop emeritus of the Archdiocese of Seattle Raymond Hunthausen.
Accomplishments
Matt has many trophies and awards. Starting in 2008, Miller was named the Class AA offensive player of the year. In 2009, he was announced as Montana Gatorade Player of the Year, as well as co-offensive player of the year. While he attended High School, Miller and the rest of the football team made a new record to set 33 wins. He has made several memorable touchdowns, catches, and passes. In his senior year of high school, Miller was able to score 19 touchdowns and is currently cutting it close to breaking the record for catches in a season at Boise State. He is runner up to Austin Pettis who had 46 catches, and Titus Young who had 44 in 2007. Miller is trying to receive 65, and has currently had 9 touchdowns during his sophomore season. The very first touchdown of the season his sophomore year was made by Miller during a game against Georgia. He continued to amaze people when he made a touchdown while lying on his back during a game against Wyoming in 2011. All these records were still made in a single season while he tore his Achilles tendon in August 2010; his Achilles did not completely heal until 2011, which didn’t make much of a difference considering the chances of him being red-shirted was high. Along with football, Miller was also committed to track and basketball. He holds the record for the career scorer in points for basketball at Capital High School, scoring over 1,000 points, and helped the team make it to the basketball conference, which had never been done before. On top of his basketball and football accomplishments, he was also a hurdler who made it to the state championship. He also participated in relays and the 200 meter dash while he attended Capital. Miller's academics also are one of his accomplishments. He was a 3.7 GPA student in high school, while participating in several sports.
Current status
Scouts from all over the United States came to watch Miller at his games starting his sophomore year and tried to win his approval to call him one of their own. The top schools most interested in Miller were Boise State, University of Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, and Arizona State. He also had the choice between Notre Dame, Colorado State, Yale, Dartmouth, Harvard, North Carolina, Montana State, University of Montana, Washington State and Wyoming. He made the effort to visit the top schools interested in him and carefully made his decision. Many of the schools offered Miller a full-ride scholarship if he played football for their school. However, some of the schools wanted him for other reasons such as track or basketball, primarily from the Montana schools. Miller wanted to find a school where he would be able to juggle both sports and academic work. He wanted to continue pursuing his football career because he felt he had a better chance at succeeding and decided to play for Boise State University. Academically, Miller was interested in wildlife biology in 2009 and is interested in being a football coach in the future. He worked hard and attended a summer conditioning program in Boise to prepare himself for football his freshman year. He chose Boise State because he made a connection with the coaches and it is near Helena, his hometown. Another reason Miller chose Boise is because he wanted to be a part of a dedicated, hardworking, winning team.
