Matt Donovan (born Ohio) is an American poet. He won a 2010 Whiting Award.

Life

A native of Hudson, Ohio, Donovan graduated from Vassar College with a BA, from Lancaster University with an MA, and from New York University with an MFA. He teaches at Santa Fe University of Art and Design.

He won a Pushcart Prize, an National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, the 2008 Larry Levis Reading Prize, the 2009 Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize, a 2010 Lannan Foundation Writing Residency Fellowship. Vellum won the 2006 Bakeless Prize.

His work appeared in AGNI, Blackbird, Poetry, The Kenyon Review, The Gettysburg Review, The Threepenny Review, and The Virginia Quarterly Review.
