Mateo Camargo (pronounced: Muh-tay-oh) is a Colombian-born American record producer, and is the guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist of rock band Madina Lake from 2005 to its breakup in 2012 and since the bands reunion in 2017. After the breakup of Madina Lake, Mateo became the guitarist and keyboardist for the band Little Bitter Cubes.

Early life

Mateo was born on March 11, 1977, and grew up in the suburbs of Bogotá - Colombia. He attended high school at Colegio San Carlos.

He moved to the United States and enrolled at the Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida for recording/audio engineering, which is where he met fellow Madina Lake bandmate Dan Torelli. As well as being the guitarist, Mateo also did programming, added synths, and laid effects and electronic beats to add to the band's sound.

Career

Mateo was previously in a band called Reforma with Dan Torelli that relocated to Chicago. The two of them met Nathan and Matthew Leone from The Blank Theory, and quickly befriended them. Mateo played guitar for them shortly before The Blank Theory disbanded, and the four of them formed Madina Lake.

Mateo also wrote and co-produced the track 'Danger' on Hilary Duff's 2007 album Dignity.

In 2009, he produced "The Vice Verses EP" for the hip-hop/rock duo, Deadbeatz Inc.

Mateo produced, co-wrote, engineered and mixed V for Volume's debut album "providence", who have just signed a publishing deal with BMI.

He also produced, engineered and mixed the latest Madina Lake album "WW3".

He worked with Billy Corgan on the song "Imagineer".

Mateo wrote the songs "Desde que te Fuiste" and "Aunque Me Mientas" for the platinum selling album "Primera Fila" by the Mexican singer Alejandra Guzmán.

He also produced and engineered the song "23" from Shakira's latest album "Shakira".
