The Maruti Eeco was introduced in India by Maruti Suzuki during early 2010. This car is essentially a stripped down version of defunct Versa. This is an urgent refresh in lines with Maruti Suzuki not being able to come up with a new minivan. EECO comes with 5-seater and 7-seater options. Eeco is equipped with advanced Engine Management System for optimizing fuel efficiency and performance. It is branded by the manufacturer as a perfect car for every occasion-a business trip or a picnic with the loved ones.

Design and trim options

Eeco boasts of luxury features like AC, digital trip meter, integrated head rests in front row and tubeless radial tires.

The 1196 cc CNG - powered variant delivers a fuel economy of 18 km/kg in city and 20 km/kg on highways, while the Petrol variant offers a mileage of 13 kmpl on urban roads and 15 kmpl and freeways, respectively.

Noteworthy feature is the Diagonal Shift Assistance for smoother diagonal gear movements [rather than the earlier rigid straight line gear shifting].

Eeco trims are as follows:

  • 5-seater, standard
  • 5-seater, AC
  • 7-seater, Standard
  • Maruti Suzuki Eeco Green

Maruti Suzuki has also introduced EECO Green Range. It is equipped with Maruti Suzuki’s advanced i-GPI technology. It runs on nature’s ECO Fuel-CNG. It is claimed to be safer, more efficient and cuts down one's fuel costs. It is available in 5 Seater AC and Standard variants, it is equipped with futuristic Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPI) Technology.

EECO also comes with the electric variant the EECO Charge runs on Lithium Ion batteries, we feel the size is a hampering factor as the range per change is a mere 100 km. the EECO Charge's electric motor churns out 67 BHP powered by Lithium ion batteries that can hold 24 KWH. It takes 7 hours to recharge the battery fully at 220V and of course is totally green with zero exhaust emission.

The car has two modes that you can select, sports and economy, although the top speed of the car is maximum 180 km/h. It also comes with a Maruti Suzuki 2 years warranty, ensuring complete peace of mind. It is positioned as Eco-friendly car.
