Marudhuri Raja is a Telugu film writer, and director. Navabharatam produced by Pokuri Baburao was his first film as a writer. He worked as a dialogue writer for more than 200 films. He worked with noted Telugu film directors like E. V. V. Satyanarayana, S. V. Krishna Reddy, K. Raghavendra Rao. His elder brother M. V. S. Haranatha Rao is also a film and stage writer. Raja also directed some films.

Personal life

Raja was born in Guntur and studied in Ongole. He was the eldest among five siblings. His elder M. V. S. Haranatha Rao is also a noted film and stage writer and artist. His father was a clerk and mother was a musician. He used to write, direct and act in stage plays since child hood. Before entering into the film industry he wrote 18 stage plays.

He has a habit of drowning his film scripts after the film is completed in the river Godavari near Basara.

Career

Raja was spotted by Jandhyala when they were playing a stage drama Srama Devobhava in Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad and he was invited by Jandhyala if he was interested. Later Raja worked with Jandhyala on films Srivariki Premalekha, Puttadi Bomma as an assistant director. Then he joined Paruchuri Brothers and assisted them for the film Prajaswamyam. He made his debut as a dialogue writer with the film Navabharatam. He got many opportunities later with noted directors like E. V. V. Satyanarayana, S. V. Krishna Reddy, K. Raghavendra Rao etc.
