Biography

Amati trained at the Brera Academy in Milan and was picked upon graduation by MTV Europe to work in the UK. She directed hundreds of MTV promos and idents and was part of the London-based team that created and launched MTV Italy, leaving immediately after the regionalization of the channel. Amati moved into drama in 2008. Her first three short films won the BAFTA (I Do Air), the BAFTA L/A Certificate of Excellence (A' Mare), and received another BAFTA nomination in 2010 for Chalk, which also won the BIFA among a number of other International Awards. Amati's work has premiered at Sundance Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, and London Film Festival and has screened around the world on the international circuit.
