Martin Lumbye was born in 1972 in Korea. He arrived in Denmark in 1974 in the Danish city Horsens where Josephine and Hans Lumbye became his parents. There he grew up with a brother and a sister. After a couple of years they moved to the island of Als. In his late teens he moved to Aarhus to study HF-exam at Langkær Gymnasium & HF followed by studying Humaniora at Aarhus University. He did't finalize his study, because the Danish theater, Dr. Dante gave him an interesting job-opening. He lives in Christianshavn in Copenhagen with his girlfriend Louise Linde Bertelsen, and he is the dad of three daughters.

Early career

His early career began with studying Humaniora in Aarhus. A study that was interrupted and not finished while the Danish theater, Dr. Dante headhunted him back in 1997 to be head of public relations and marketing. Over the years he also momentarily took care of public relations and marketing for Granhøj Dans, Mammutteatret, Østre Gasværk, Copenhagen International Ballet and Mungo Park. This learned him the trade working with progressive people like Nikolaj Cederholm, Lars Kaalund and Palle Granhøj. Six years later, in 2003, he became Secretary-General in Aarhus Festuge - an art and culture festival in the city of Aarhus, Denmark. In this position he helped to create an economic turnaround for Aarhus Festuge. Years of deficit in the books turned. After four years he resigned to move closer to his family and to be part of startup business.
