Marmaduke made his first debut in the 35th issue of Hit Comics in March 1, 1945 and served as an opponent against the lion, King Louie. He starred in seven issues of Hit Comics, finishing with the 41st issue.

Marmaduke Comics

Quality Comics gave Marmaduke his own series, which also featured comic strips of other characters. Some of those strips were shown a second time Quality's "Buster Bear" and "Giddy Goose" comic series.

Earlier Issues

In the first 39 issues, Marmaduke serves King Louie to do odd jobs for him and protect him from various conmen and criminals, but getting little to no gratitude from his king. Other strips had just Marmaduke himself.

Later Issues

In the later issues, Mousebert is a sole mouse who lives by himself and has various domestic adventures often with his best friend Goofy Gopher and his girlfriend Mamie, while trying to avoid his nemesis Cuthbert Cat and various tricksters. Marmaduke loses his blue iris and in Issue Issue #42 his diaper becomes boxer shorts.
