Marla Malcolm Beck is the Co-Founder and CEO of Bluemercury and M-61 Laboratories. Mrs. Beck founded Bluemercury with her husband Barry J. Beck, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer in 1999. The couple founded M-61 Laboratories in 2006.

Business Career

Marla and Barry J. Beck founded Bluemercury in 1999 in Georgetown, Washington, DC. As of September 2015, Bluemercury has 70 stores throughout the U.S.
In 2012, Marla and Barry Beck founded the cosmeceutical line M-61 Laboratories. M-61 Laboratories is sold at Bluemercury locations and via Home Shopping Network.

Prior to founding Bluemercury, Beck was a consultant at McKinsey and Company. Beck holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MPA from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. She is on the Advisory Board of Harvard Business School’s Rock Center for Entrepreneurship and is a current member of the Young President’s Organization.

Beck has appeared as a guest on CNBC, CNN and Fox Business News, and has also been a guest speaker for Women's Wear Daily Beauty Innovation Forum. She was Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005. Beck is often sought after for her seasonal beauty picks and industry insight. She maintains a blog in which she discusses her product favorites and sneak peeks of upcoming launches.

Personal Life
Beck is a California native. She currently lives in the Washington, DC area with her husband, Barry Beck, and her three children. She has been a vegetarian for over 20 years.
