Mark Stanway is an English musician. He is most famous for having been the keyboard player for the English Prog Rock band Magnum from 1980 until the end of 2016.

Career

Mark first appeared with Magnum on the 1980 live album Marauder, sharing the credits with Richard Bailey, since that time Mark has provided keyboards on every studio album release and is considered by many as one of the creative forces in the band, the only album since 1980 not to credit Mark is the 2000 release of the live Days of Wonder Live 1976, which was recorded before he joined the band.

Mark has also worked with Robert Plant and Phil Lynott's Grand Slam. He has played with M3 Classic Whitesnake, featuring ex-Whitesnake members Bernie Marsden, Neil Murray and Micky Moody.

With Mark on keyboard duty Magnum's breakthrough album came in 1985 with On A Storyteller's Night. This success continued the following year with the Roger Taylor produced Vigilante in 1986, the top 5 album Wings Of Heaven in 1988, and the Keith Olsen produced Goodnight L.A. which reached No. 9 in the UK album charts in 1990.

Magnum formally split in 1995, but 6 years later they reformed and released the album Breath Of Life in 2002, with Mark once again taking keyboard duties, since then Mark has provided keyboards on all Magnum albums, and still tours with the band.

On Friday 9 December 2016, Mark announced that he has left Magnum, mid-way through their Divine Lies Winter Tour. He cited "irrevocable circumstances".
