Mark S. Lachs is the Irene and Roy Psaty Distinguished Professor of Medicine at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City, and Director of Geriatric Medicine for The New York Presbyterian Health Care System.

Education

Lachs graduated from The New York University School of Medicine and completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital of the thumbnail. He also was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the Yale University School of Medicine. Currently, he is also Director of the New York City Elder Abuse Center.

Academic Work

He is both a practicing physician and researcher who has written and conducted studies in the field of Elder abuse and neglect, including the American Medical Association Guidelines on Elder Mistreatment.

He has received a National Institutes on Aging Academic Leadership Award, a Paul Beeson Physician Faculty Scholarship in Aging, and was a delegate to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging. He has also served as a consultant to the World Health Organization on matters related to elder abuse.
