Watch bust up between teammates during defeat to Jags
Early career

Durnan started his career in the youth team of Clyde, before moving to St Johnstone in 2008, but in his time at St Johnstone he failed to make a first team appearance for the club. While at St Johnstone, he went out on loan a number of times, firstly in August 2010, when he moved to Arbroath. The following season, he was loaned to Stranraer on 23 August 2011, for one month and on 11 January 2012, he joined Elgin City for the rest of the season.
Queen of the South

On 25 July 2012, Durnan signed for Second Division club Queen of the South, signing a one-year contract. In his first season at the club, Queen of the South won the 2012–13 Scottish Second Division title and the Scottish Challenge Cup. On 19 April 2013, he signed a new one-year contract with the club. At the end of the season, Durnan was one of six Queen of the South players named in the PFA Scotland 2012–13 Second Division Team of the Year. On 7 January 2014, Durnan extended his contract by a further year, until 2015.
Dundee United

In June 2015, Durnan signed a three-year contract with Dundee United. He scored his first goal for the club on 23 January 2016, in a 5–1 win over Kilmarnock.
