Student life

The school has consistently received an "excellent" rating on the Ohio State Report Card. The school colors are kelly green and gold and the school teams are nicknamed the Comets. The school is a member of the Southwestern Conference.

Television broadcasting

Amherst Steele's television broadcasting class annually ranks among the best in the US. Between 2003 and 2008, Amherst received two national Student Emmy awards and 30 regional Student Emmy awards, as well as several International Communicator Awards.
