Marie-Thérèse Bardet (2 June 1898 – 8 June 2012) was a French supercentenarian. She was recognized as the oldest person in Europe, and the sixth oldest person in the world, at the time of her death in 2012.

Biography

Bardet was born in Lorient, Brittany, to single mother who gave up her daughter to French authorities. On 1 January 2012, Marcelle Narbonne died, She become the oldest person in France and Europe.

Bardet died at a retirement home in Pontchateau, Loire-Atlantique, France, on 8 June 2012, just 6 days after celebrating her 114th birthday. She was survived by her two children, who were ages 90 and 88 years old, respectively, in 2012; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Bardet was succeeded as oldest living European by 113-year-old Maria Redaelli-Granoli.
