Marie L. Miville is an associate professor of psychology and education, who is currently involved in a psychology counseling program at Columbia University in New York City. Her work revolves around identifying both needs and perception of international students, perceptions towards LGBT students, and students with disabilities. However, her primary focus revolves around racial and gender differences at a collegiate level. Miville has published many works throughout her career on the topic of multicultural issues in psychology. She also works as an editor for a psychology counselling forum. Miville has had many recognitions for all her work done to better the understanding of culture and race on a psychological level.

Chameleon Changes: An Exploration of Racial Identity Themes of Multiracial People was published in 2005. The work revolves around a study conducted by the four psychologists that, "explored essential themes of racial identity development among 10 self-identified multiracial adults from a variety of backgrounds." In the study participants were chosen through a half- structured protocol. Then interviewed in a recorded session, and had their responses observed. There were four themes were identified through this experiment: encounters with racism, reference group orientation, the "chameleon" experience, and the importance of social context in identity development. Regarding the results it is also written that, "everal of the themes mirrored those associated with contem- porary biracial and multiracial identity development models, new themes centering on the adoption of multiple self-labels reflecting both monoracial and multiracial backgrounds emerged as well." Over all, the results found in this study are important for future references involving racial identity in psychology.

Case Studies in Multicultural Counseling and therapy published in 2014. Was a literary piece that Miville wrote in collaboration with other psychologists in her field of practice. The published case study, discusses ‘real life’ cases dealing with the topic of clinical counseling and psychotherapy. This work also covers the various assessments and treatments of people in different populations. Also containing different contributions from well known psychologists in the practice, in hopes to empower other professions in the field to take an interest in multicultural counseling. Over all, this piece of writing provides an audience to take a critical point of view to the topic of multicultural counseling.

Handbook of Race-Ethnicity and Gender in Psychology This handbook focuses on the multicultural aspects of psychology, and has received recognition within the field for bringing attention to the nuances of diversity, and diversity on a complex scale. It also focuses on the diversity scale and the "intersections of gender or social class with race-ethnicity". Though there are other published works regarding other issues such as gender, race and other concerns. This handbook is praised because of its incorporation of, "multiple aspects of diversity within psychology." As well as providing to the information on how race and gender can impact psychology all around, and how research regarding topics such as: mental health, domestic violence, addiction etc. Can be more thoroughly observed with a broader understanding of their effects on individuals, and in groups. Many who have read the handbook regard the topics of interest as: identity development, world views and belief systems, parenting styles, interventions for promoting resilience and persistence and strategies for enhancing more accurate diagnostic and treatment modalities. Meaning that the research and themes covered in the book can be applicable for many fields in psychology. And, because the book brings a new perspective to viewing psychology in a more dynamic way, the handbook is said to have touch on many topics that have gone unnoticed, and have been under-addressed for various groups.
