Thorisdottir went through all Norwegian junior teams and participated with the U-17 team in the qualification and the finals of the 2009 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship in Nyon, when Norway was fourth place.

A year later, she and the Norway U17 fell in the second qualification round in the 2010 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship. In the 2011 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship she and her team reached the finals, but they lost for a massive score, 8:1 against Germany. As a result of reaching the semi-finals, the Grasshoppers have qualified for the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Japan. Thorisdottir was part of the 21-roster that played the tournament. Her team reached the quarter-finals, but then they met Germany again and again they suffered a massive defeat, 4:0.

After that her international career came to a halt and only three years later, she was then called for two matches for the U-23 team and on 16 February 2015 she was called for the senior team for the first time, was a part of team that played at the 2015 Algarve Cup. On 23 April 2015, she was appointed to the provisional squad of 35 players for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. On 14 May 2015 she was called for the final squad.

Her father is Thorir Hergeirsson, the coach for the Norway women's national handball team.
