Education

Buhle was born Mari Jo Kupski. She graduated from North Chicago Community High School in 1961. On December 30, 1963, she married Paul Buhle. Listed as Mari Jo Kupski Buhle in 1968, she received her Master of Arts degree in history from the University of Connecticut. She earned a doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1974.
