Biography
Wilson was born on October 1, 1942, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She attended the University of Alberta, graduating with a degree in Psychology in 1964.
She won a Commonwealth Scholarship to study at University College London, England, where she earned her PhD in 1972. In the 1980s, she was appointed professor of Psychology at the McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada where she remained for the rest of her life.
Together with her fellow psychologist and husband, Martin Daly, whom she'd met in Toronto in 1974, where they were both working at the time, Margo Wilson started investigating homicide, and conducting "epidemiological analyses of patterns of risk for violence in different categories of relationships."
She was a former editor-in-chief of the journal Evolution and Human Behavior along with Daly, and served as president of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society.
In 1998, Wilson was named a fellow of the Royal Society.
In 2000, she wrote the foreword for A Natural History of Rape (2000), a book about rape by Randy Thornhill and Craig T. Palmer.
Margo Wilson died in Hamilton on September 24, 2009, of cancer.
