Marcello Gil de Oliveira (born March 12, 1976), AKA Marcello Gil or just Gil, is a Brazilian singer, musician, songwriter, writer, journalist, TV host, executive producer, video producer and editor, lighting design, and marketeer, known for both his involvement in gospel music and expertise in the areas of advertising, marketing and audiovisual production. He is also a pastor, ordered by Apostle Joel Pereira from Projeto Vida Church in Brazil.

Biography

Gil started to play music as a child and was still a teenager when he joined his first band. He began his career as a White Metal Singer, and then grew to write songs that reflected his Christian beliefs. On 1998 Marcello founded a Christian rock band called "Atrium", that recorded three full albums. During his music career Marcello composed more than 50 songs and produced 8 different albums. He also composed a few jingles.

He was a key figure in the scenario of Brazilian Gospel Rock at the state of Rio de Janeiro between 1998 and 2003, being part of many important events alongside bands like Oficina G3 and Fruto Sagrado. At that time Marcello helped to consolidate one of the most important projects of prevention and combating drugs in that state: "Sua Cidade Sem Drogas", a project designed by his longtime friend: State Representative Edson Albertassi.

Between 1999 and 2000 Gil worked as a sound technician to Brazilian female singer Baby do Brasil also known as Baby Consuelo one of the icons of the movement Novos Baianos and some years later (in 2003) Marcello composed the song "Rio de Deus" and recorded a duo together with Sarah Sheeva (former SNZ), her daughter.

From 2001 to 2003 became nationally known in Brazil for having written and recorded the song "Meus Sonhos" also known as "Os Sonhos de Deus", which became the anthem of one of the most relevant Neo-Pentecostal movements in Brazil in those years: "A Visão Celular no Modelo dos 12", led by Apostle Renê Terra Nova from Ministério Internacional da Restauração a church in Manaus. This song had more than 1.500.000 views on YouTube and was executed in Radios all around Brazil and in many different Countries. Gil's musical career incorporates an eclectic range of influences including Rock music, Gospel Music, and Worship Music.

In 2002 after co-ordinate the political campaign for reelection of State Representative Edson Albertassi, Marcello was invited to manage the Commercial Department of Radio 88FM, which holds the largest radio audience in its area at the state of Rio de Janeiro. He remained there until mid-2003 when he collaborated to produce and manage various cultural events and contests geared toward gospel music, having the opportunity to judge and reward a diversity of singers and bands.

Still in 2002 Marcello started his lighting design career drawing stage maps and than lighting for one of the greatest POP artists in Brazil at that time, the pop-rock band "Jota Quest".

In 2003 Gil started his career as audiovisual producer and worked for important companies in Brazil as Companhia Siderurgica Nacional - CSN, Saint-Gobain, Galvasud, Governo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Assembleia Legislativa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Radio 88FM and Projeto Vida Church/Music, among others. He was also the coordinator of the "Banco do Elementos Educacionais Multimedia" at CEDERJ/CECIERJ, a government organization for distance education at the State of Rio de Janeiro that works to make possible the dream of have a Degree for people that have no access to regular classes on Colleges and Universities.

From 2002 to 2005 Marcello was the director and one of the hosts of the TV show "Por Um Milagre", first aired in the Central Nacional de Televisão - CNT Network Television and then at "Band" Network Television.

Between 2004 and 2008, he was awarded in two occasions with the trophy "Talentos da Publicidade" organized by RioSul TV, an affiliate of Rede Globo de Televisão. He Also was nominated two more times.

In 2008 Marcello collaborated with a project to establish the magazine "Revista Palavra" in Brazil (originally was produced in the state of Connecticut – USA to the Brazilian community). He was chief editor, writer and director of the Commercial Department also.

In 2009 he was responsible by produce and record the album "The Best We Have", a collection of hits from previous albums of "Projeto Vida Church" that was translated into English language. In this project Marcello had the opportunity to work with Lucas and Diogo Macedo from EME Studios that already worked with famous bands and singers including Strike, Biquini Cavadão, Milton Nascimento, Yahoo, Diogo Nogueira, Jota Quest, João Bosco, Milton Guedes, Vanguard, among others). This album was mastered at Sterling Sound, internationally acclaimed studio in New York city.

From 2011 to 2014 Gil was the creator, director, and producer of the videocast "Rompendo Limites" which later became the TV show "Rompendo Limites" that it is still on air thru Band network television. Marcello was responsible (along with Apice Agency) to transform the messages of Apostle Joel Pereira used at the TV show in a series of DVDs using the same title. He also coordinated the sales department of this project until move to USA in 2014. The sales of the DVDs were a success and the profit made was enough to pay all the cost to maintain the TV Show on air. At the same time he was the sound and lighting coordinator of Projeto Vida Church as a volunteer, and an Events Coordinator in Conferences that had singers as Jake Hamilton and John Mark MacMillan, and also the most relevant Brazilian Gospel Singers and bands as Thalles Roberto, Kleber Lucas, Fernandinho, Pregador LUO, Juliano Son, among others.

In 2013 Gil was responsible to coordinate and capture pictures during the live record of the album "Profeta da Esperança". This album of the gospel singer and songwriter Kleber Lucas was really well received by the critics and public, being awarded with the Latin Grammy in the same year.

From mid 2015 until mid 2017 Marcello was the International Representative of radio Projeto Vida. He also was a pastor to a group of people from different nationalities that gathered at his house. In 2015 He played guitar for Donna Leigh Hinkley.

Marcello now lives with his wife Renata and children, Quezia and Gustavo, in Winter Park (a small city close to Orlando), Florida, in the United States, where he is dedicated to study, working as an Associate Pastor at The Praise Place Church where he coordinates the Media Department and he is also the Youth Pastor.Marcello is also a member of Revolution Cry Ministries as musician, composer, and producer.

He is still writing songs and collaborating on strategies of communication and marketing for various purposes in Brazil.
