History of the Facility

The site of Maplecrest-Sempar School incorporates a one-room school which dates back to 1850. The school has undergone many expansions and renovations since then and now contains four large classrooms, a separate portable known as “The West Cottage,” a library, and a gym. There are also three yards: the main yard containing the permanent play structure and the large field, the junior yard containing movable play equipment, and the shaded back yard that is used for team-building games, water games, or smaller, less strenuous games when shade is preferable in the hot months.

History of the School

Originally two separate schools, Maplecrest and Sempar schools began offering private education up to grade 8 in Kingston in 1993 and 1994. Sempar school originally operated out of a church and Maplecrest operated out of its current facility at 41 Baiden Street. In 2005, Sempar moved next door to Maplecrest, sharing a common playground, gym and even some classes. In 2007, the two schools merged into the main school and created Maplecrest-Sempar School.
