He has won multiple graded stakes races, including four grade II level races - the 2012 W. L. McKnight Handicap, the 2008 Ohio Derby, the 2008 Hutcheson Stakes, the 2006 Shirley Jones Handicap, the 2005 Rampart Handicap, and the 2003 Appleton Handicap.

For every year since 2003, he has finished in the top 15 jockeys at Gulfstream Park.

Cruz has over 2,000 career wins.
