Mandisa thomas black nonbeliever
Mandisa Thomas is the founder and president of Black Nonbelievers Inc., established in 2011. She was raised secularly, although she sang in a church choir. In 2012 she was shown next to Langston Hughes on a billboard in Atlanta as part of a campaign sponsored by the group African Americans for Humanism. In 2013 she was a speaker at the 2013 National Convention of American Atheists. Also that year she organized the Blackout Secular Rally in New York, which was the first outdoor event featuring nontheists of color and the first secular rally celebrating diversity. The idea for the rally was hers and Ayanna Watson's.
